Walter Payton Alumni Group

Because who wants high school to really be over?

On Friday, February 27, the Payton Alumni Association celebrated the 2nd Annual Alumni vs. Faculty Basketball game with the 2005 class. The event kicks off the ten year reunion celebration for the 2005 class. The game was also held to honor Payton graduates Maggie Miretzky ('04), and Kyle Smith ('05), who both passed away in the fall of last year. Prior to the game the alumni association president, Raymond Washington ('04), presented the families with sports memorabilia commemorating their child's participation on Payton sports teams (Maggie-softball game, Kyle-basketball team). The following quote from Walter Payton's Hall of Fame induction speech adorned both: "Everybody that you meet, you can learn something from them. Everybody who comes into your life can influence your life as well, just as these people have, just as you have." The alumni beat the staff 81-72, in in a thrilling game and the night was a great celebration of our great friends gone too soon. Hope to see you all in attendance next year.
